lyrics

WHEN WE WERE YOUNGER

Am I too young to be nostalgic?
After all I often feel like I'm the oldest person here
Am I too young for this rhetoric?
After all I always was a little older than my years

Am I too old to ride the rollercoaster?
Give me a break, I'm just tryin to have some fun
Am I supposed to be a grown-up now?
Well, I can't shake the feeling that my life has just begun

But when we were younger
everything was stronger
The sun, the beer, the rock'n roll,
The techno beats and the sudden love
The days were short, but the nights were longer
When we were younger

Am I too old for this haircut?
Does my face look really wrinkly when you see it in the light?
I took a look at the starts the other night
and then my future, and it didn't shine as bright
Am I the only thing that matters to you?
Of course I'm not, yeah you said that, but you lied
You lied

And when we were younger
everything was stronger
The sun, the beer, the rock'n roll,
The techno beats and the sudden love
The days were short, but the nights were longer
When we were younger

The stars, the stars don't spell my name
And I'm stuck with that song I never made
And it makes me wanna quit the whole charade
But you hold me, hold me up
to the standards of my youth and of my age
And you know that all my joy and all my rage
will not allow me to behave

Oh, when we were younger
everything was stronger
The sun, the beer, the rock'n roll,
The techno beats and the sudden love
The nights were longer
When we were younger
everything was stronger
The love we built was concrete, then
It's rubber now; it don't break, it bends
But maybe it's stronger
Than when we were younger
